Tips to prepare your Salon for the 'new normal'.
Whether you can’t wait to get back to your salon and clients or, if you’re a little more hesitant to go back to work, business will be anything but usual. So, what do you need to know before you open your doors after COVID-19.
With our license, we've been trained from the beginning of our careers on sanitation and protecting the public, but how do we begin to navigate salon life with the novel Coronavirus. In this video, Miki Wright will walk you through some things that you may or may not have considered and help you create a plan to keep yourself, your team and your clients safe.
Sanitation is no longer enough. PPE, including gloves, masks, smocks and possibly even shields are the new salon attire.
Preparing your space. What works and what won't. Setting up your work stations, shampoo bowls, refreshments, restrooms and more.
The guest experience. What can your guests expect? What do they need to be prepared for? They need to come in with their mask on before entering your building.
Additional capes, 1-2 masks per client, paper neck strips will need to be added to your supply list.
The number of clients you can service will probably be reduced and your costs of doing business are increasing.
Liability - What if you get sick? What if a client gets sick? What if your team gets sick? What do you need to do to protect your business?
How much will it cost you to stock up and prepare to reopen?
How will you get paid? Cashless options may be key.
How many clients can you do in a day, one at a time, with additional sanitation in between?
Will this 'new normal' be profitable? Making this make dollars and sense.
Should you increase your prices to cover the new expenses? Will your all of your clients come back right away? Will they keep coming back on a regular basis?
Please use this as a checklist to make sure you have covered all of your bases before (or even after) you reopen your salon. These are all things to consider and create a plan that will work for you and your team. Please leave your biggest 'aha' in the comments below.
