As someone who is typically used to being on the other side of interviewing other beauty bosses, this week was such a special treat to be featured on The Tease's most recent podcast episode! I got to share some of my story and why I'm so passionate about the work I'm doing and the platform I built to celebrate Black Voices. The podcast was so much fun and I am so appreciative of The Tease for creating such a powerful and inclusive space for Beauty Pros as well as consumers and enthusiasts.
Some of the things I shared in the interview:
How I financed my first salon! Was it wise???
What was it like for me to be one of the first African American owners of a full service Salon and Day Spa, and what did I learn from our tremendous growth?
What's the first thing to focus on, as a new (or even seasoned) Hair Stylist? Hint: It has to do with your income.
How do we hold the Beauty Industry accountable for diversity, inclusion and equity for Black people?
My advice for people who want to get to the top of our industry quickly. It's at the end, but you don't want to miss that!
Please take a listen and let me know your thoughts!
It was such an honor to discuss the platform we have built here as Beauty SuperStars.
A huge thank you to The Tease for having me on their podcast!
