Kim Connell
For the past years, Kim Connell has been the owner of Salon Obsessions: The Weave Institute located in Silver Spring, MD. As a custom tailor for over twenty years—with eight of those years devoted to high-end retailer Nordstrom—Kim incorporated her love of sewing into the SEWING of hair. Kim is gifted at translating traditional tailoring techniques into the art of weave and wig making. She was trained to be meticulous in every facet of her work and infuses high quality craftsmanship into even the simplest of designs. Kim conducts weave and wig-making classes at cosmetology schools in Maryland (American Beauty Academy, Aspen Beauty Academy) and Washington, DC (The Bennett Institute). She enjoys teaching weave and custom-wig creation from the foundation (various cornrow methods to make the weave smooth and undetectable) to closure methods (plug closure, pre-make closure, and her newly developed cyclone closure) all with her unique “Tailored Touch.” Kim regularly styles hair for photo shoots, and fashion shows.

Shante Omotosho has been in the industry for more than 15 years. She is the founder of Runway Studios Salon and Boutique located in the “Art District” of Hyattsville, MD. . Shante is a platform artist, educator, and certified colorist with Loreal and Wella. She has worked side by side with International educators; Legendary Miki D. Wright, Bruce Johnson, Nat Lewis, and Patric Bradley. Shante has extended her talent to coaching stylists, offering in-house training programs on “How to become a Featured Stylist”, educating upcoming stylists on cutting edge styles and salon management skills.

Mack has taken both the barbering and beauty industry by storm by applying his knowledge and expertise to raise the image of students and professionals. Mack served as ambassador of the Oster clipper company, and because of his many wins is often selected as a judge for trade shows across the country. Carolyn McLenmore –Smith, Beautification Specialist, is native of Richmond, VA. With over 20 years of experience as a hair stylist, skin care consultant, and makeup artist. Her mission is to assist in enhancing your everyday image. In her seminars, Carolyn shares trade secrets to improve the images of people in variety of settings, from modeling, acting, entertainment, to client, family and friends. Carolyn’s work has been published in some of the most highly respected magazines. Prisicilla Jones has more than 30 years experience in the beauty industry. She has owned several salons, worked as platform artist for many trade and hair shows. She has served as the Director of cosmetology for one of the largest beauty schools in the country, Empire Beauty School. She posses a CLIC Certification in Hair Cutting and Design, Hair Coloring, Long Hair and Class Management, Teaching Methods, Motivating and Learning, State Laws, Rules and Regulations for Cosmetology, and Sanitation and Sterilization. She has previously trained for NACCAS (National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology, Arts and Sciences).
