$ecrets of the Millionaire Stylist!
Workbook
Phase I
This book is dedicated to my first ‘mentors’…
To my Mom – Thanks for being such an inspiration! You have such an upbeat attitude and great personality, you’re a talented hair designer and you’ve been my role model as a person, a salon owner and a beauty professional. I admire how you always keep up with the latest trends and encourage continuing education. Of course, many of the things I share in my classes I learned from you! So thanks for the wisdom, the talent and the love you share so generously with me and so many others!
Of course I want to thank my mom, just for being my mom. But, you may not know, in addition to that, she was my very first ‘mentor’ in the beauty industry – she went to cosmetology school when I was just six weeks old! As I’ve been told, I would watch her doing the hair of her clients and friends from the playpen. And when I ‘grew up’, around age two or three, I became a ‘model’, she’d set my hair and I’d sit under the dryer, all to be ‘pretty’. When my newborn sister came home from the hospital, they said, the first thing I did was grab a brush to ‘do her hair’! Though growing up, I wasn’t really interested in doing hair; I’d sometimes help my mom at ‘the shop’, help her with competitions and go with her to hair shows. I guess something rubbed off!
To M. Saleh – In 1985 I moved to Washington, DC, with no family, no friends, and of course no clients. I knew I didn’t want to go from salon to salon, so I took my time to look for the salon I wanted to work in. I also knew that I wanted to be a salon owner and I wanted to be in an atmosphere where that would be supported. I spoke with many salon owners and one name kept coming up, “before I opened my salon, I worked with Saleh”. I didn’t know how to spell it, but I definitely wanted to meet this man who had “raised” so many successful salon owners. When I figured out how to spell it and found where it was located, I went in to check it out and to meet Saleh. When I walked in, there was tons of ambiance, jazz playing, art displayed, softly lit, there was lady getting her make-up done, there were retail products and his signature, fresh flowers. The stylists looked stylish and there were clients everywhere and I thought, “I like this place”! Then I met Saleh, and that night I decided I was going to work there (notice I didn’t say he decided, LOL).
There was only one problem, there weren’t any openings!!! So after I demonstrated a model and he agreed that he’d like to have me work there, I persistently called several times a week, to see if they were ready for me to start! That was the beginning of more than 20 years of being ‘part of the family’.
M. Saleh Hair Studios and ‘Saleh’ as he was known, was the training ground for many, if not most, of the top salons in the metropolitan Washington, DC area. Through his generous and professional tutelage, I was shown and taught discipline, encouraged and lifted up when I was frustrated or down and truly got to sit at the feet of ‘the master’ with running a professional salon, interacting with clients and creating a family atmosphere. Saleh was a true master and he was never “too busy” to talk with me, or any other stylist, to share a story or a word of wisdom. Saleh, my mentor and friend, passed away in 2007.
I write this book, because as someone said to me, “Not everyone had a Saleh”! I know I’ve been blessed to have had him in my career and in my life.
‘Saleh, you are missed and I pray through me that your legacy will live on!’
To my Dad – You left us much too soon and didn’t get to see us as adults, but you instilled a burning desire and vision in each of us to always “Shoot for the moon, ‘cause even if you miss you’ll be among the stars!” It’s in that spirit that I’ve launched www.BeautySuperStars.com
To you, the reader,
May this inspire you to reach for your dreams!

$ecrets of the Millionaire Stylist!
Introduction
In my observation, there’s never been a ‘game plan’ for success for the Hair Designer – you go to cosmetology school and from there on out, ‘you’re on your own’! Until now – $ecrets of the Millionaire Stylist is designed to give you a ‘game plan’ to create financial success for yourself, while you do what you love! It’s a complete, 5-phase system that takes you from Beauty School and your first couple of years of working to build a clientele, all the way to the point that you consider choosing to retire - or not. All the while creating financial success and wealth that you and your family can enjoy now, and just as importantly, in the future!
Join me on this journey. I’ll share my successes and what I’ve seen work, as well as what hasn’t worked or shortcuts to things that just seem to take the long way around. If you’re ready to be a ‘Millionaire Stylist’, bring an open mind and a willingness to try things out. Some of the ‘$ecrets’ may seem deceptively simple, but I encourage you to put them into action, and just see what happens!
Let’s go “get more clients and make more money!”

NOTE: My goal is to get you making at least $1,000 a week as quickly as possible so that you can meet your living expenses and keep doing what you love to do. Then, from there on to $2,000, $3,000, $5,000 a week or whatever your unique definition of financial success may be. Once you’re able to take care of yourself and your family’s financial needs and wants, I want to show you how to create ‘wealth’ that can take care of you and your family well into the future! So as you are reading and the dollar figures in the examples seem rather high, or low, for your area of the country, keep in mind that these are for demonstration purposes only, not a substitute for your own goals.
