3 Ways to Make Your Website Irresistible  Over the weekend I had the opportunity to do an in depth review of an existing website for a Salon Owner.  They were driving traffic, but people just weren’t coming in for services.  I ended up with many pages of notes that could help them better fill their chairs by, not just having a website, but making it a true part of their whole marketing plan and message.


I personally think that every Beauty Professional should have their own website, so I thought I’d share a few things with you to help you enhance your client’s (and potential clients) online experience of you and help them decide they can’t wait to come in to see you for a service!


  •  Show me and tell me – As a client, what can I expect?  Remember, your website is like an invitation.  Years ago I was told that an invitation (or now, an evite) should set the stage for the event you’re going attend.  Will there be balloons and clowns or will it be a formal affair?  The invitation should reflect that and your website works the same way.  Is your salon funky and upbeat?  A relaxing retreat? A hair color specialty salon? Or a place where professionals can get in and out?  The look and feel should convey what they can expect.  If your salon specializes in color, when I come to your site, I want to see all types of hair colors, I want to feel excited and see something that screams, that’s exactly what I’ve wanted, but didn’t know how to tell my Stylist!  As a client, draw me in with your photos – and your words.  If it’s relevant to your client’s experience, don’t forget to throw in your personality too!



  1. Skip the creativity here – make it easy to read.  Many salons are looking for professional women, age 35-55, after all they have a job so they can afford you and they want to look nice for their job so they come in consistently.  And what I can tell you about this group (from my own personal experience too, LOL)  is that reading small, dark things can be difficult.  You’ve seen them trying to stretch their arm longer, so they can read something.  Or pulling out their reading glasses.  Make it easy on them.  It’s been proven, that black writing on a white background in an easy to read font (not script), is the easiest to read – online and off.  Help your clients out and make it easy for them to choose you!  Feel free to express your creativity in other ways.


  •  Use lots of photos – If you’re able, I recommend professional photography and make-up for the majority of your site.  First impressions do count!   Featuring your own work is best, but if you haven’t done a professional photo shoot, there are stock photos for low cost.  (Don’t steal other’s work and claim it as your own, always use with permission.)  We all have cell phones and can take before and/or after pictures.  Clients love to see those too, just plan to keep most of them on a separate Gallery page, so they can see your in salon work too.  Images by Weldon Bond, see below for a special offer!



Bonus:  If you want to keep people coming back to your site on a regular basis, consider adding a blog (like an online professional diary).  It’s a great way to share your best beauty tips, do’s and don’ts, the latest fashion tips and your own before and after’s to share how you solved a common challenge for your client.


Try incorporating some of these tips and you’re bound to find yourself attracting more new clients and keeping your clients coming back more frequently.  You’ll be simply irresistible!
